In the first half of 2020, the PIERER Mobility Group achieved a group revenue of EUR 600.0 million (previous year: EUR 754.9 million). During the first six months of 2020, 70,171 KTM, HUSQVARNA and GASGAS motorcycles and 34,351 HUSQVARNA and R RAYMON e-bikes were sold. This represents an increase of 1.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, although e-bikes were not included in the previous year. Sales of non-e-bikes are distributed exclusively under the R Raymon brand and amounted to 8,492 units in the first half of the year. Including the 20,160 motorcycles sold by our partner Bajaj in India (previous year: 32,539), a total of 124,682 motorcycles and e-bikes were sold in the first half of 2020 (previous year: 135,711). The EBIT for the first half of 2020 is already positive and stands at EUR 1.7 million (previous year: EUR 46.6 million) despite the Covid-19 lockdown and a two-month production stop. As of June 30, 2020, the PIERER Mobility Group employed a total of 4,329 persons, 3,592 of them in Austria (83%).

Further market share gains in the important markets USA, Australia and Europe - Increased global brand presence through the corporate brand KTM after the sensational successes in MotoGPTM

In the first six months of the current financial year, the PIERER Mobility Group outperformed the overall market (-7.4%) in the most important motorcycle markets (> 120 cc) with an increase in registrations of 1.4% and was thus able to increase its market share by one percentage point to 11.8%.

Due to the modified mobility behavior, the two-wheeler retail trade is experiencing a boom, which is reflected in double-digit growth rates in registrations in the motorcycle as well as the e-bicycle segment.

After Brad Binder's historic first victory in Brno, Miguel Oliveira and Pol Espargaró also take the first and third place in MotoGPTM for the Austrian manufacturer two weeks later in Spielberg. These unbelievable successes in the premier class of motorcycling are a milestone in the history of KTM and lead to a further increase of the global brand presence.

Reinforced e-bike offensive

The PIERER Mobility Group is considered as a pioneer in electromobility for two-wheelers and has been a major driving developer in this area for a long time. Under the direction of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, the group is currently working with partners from industry and science on an innovative e-mobiliy concept (EMotion) for energy-efficient, comfortable electric two-wheelers in the category L. These electrically powered two-wheelers are specially developed for the age groups 16-18 and 50+ and are intended to offer users of conventional vehicles a useful and environmentally friendly alternative with a completely new mobility experience for the everyday individual transport.

Early 100% takeover of GASGAS

In July 2020, PIERER Mobility Group takes over 100% of the shares in GASGAS Motorcycles GmbH ahead of time, positioning GASGAS as the third group brand in the off-road motorcycle sector for ambitious beginners and as the global market leader in trials. Furthermore, GASGAS complements its product portfolio with a sporty range in the high-end e-mountain bike sector.

Guidance 2020

Due to the strong global demand, the group expects an increase in revenue to more than EUR 800 million in the second half of 2020, which is significantly higher than in the same period of the previous year (second half of 2019: EUR 765.3 million). The annual revenue for the 2020 financial year announced on 22 July 2020 is confirmed and is expected to exceed EUR 1,400 million (FY 2019: EUR 1,520.1 million), with the e-bicycle division already contributing sales of more than EUR 110 million. Based on current assessments, the EBIT margin for fiscal year 2020 will range between 4% and 6% of revenues and the free cash flow will exceed EUR 30 million.

About the Group
The PIERER Mobility Group is Europe's leading manufacturer of "powered two-wheelers" (PTW). With its globally known motorcycle brands KTM, HUSQVARNA and GASGAS, it is one of the European technology and market leaders, especially for premium motorcycles. In addition to vehicles with combustion engines, the product range also includes emission-neutral vehicles with innovative electric drives and e-bikes. As a pioneer in electromobility for two-wheelers in the low-voltage range (48 volts) the group and its strategic partner Bajaj have the prerequisites to assume a leading global role. With the take-over of the electric bicycle business from PEXCO the group took a next step into the segment of 2-wheel electro mobility. E-bicycle activities will be promoted under the brands HUSQVARNA E-Bicycles, R Raymon and GASGAS E-Bicycles in order to participate in the attractive market growth of the e-bicycle segment and to become a major international player there. Thanks to our innovative strength, we see ourselves as the technology leader in the two-wheeler sector in Europe. The partnership with Bajaj, India's second largest motorcycle manufacturer, strengthens competitiveness in global markets.
